I won't defend the DNC choosing Perez over Keith. What I will say is that no one knows more about 3rd party politics than Bernie Sanders. Bernie has asked Progressives to use and reform the Democratic Party and that's what I plan on dedicating myself to.

If you would've asked me 6 months ago at the convention whether we could get 200 of the 435 voting members of the DNC to within 6 months vote for a Progressive to lead the Democratic Party.. to vote for Bernie Sanders hand picked candidate.. I would've said you're crazy. Those are existing members of the DNC, not new ones. Almost all of them were superdelegates that voted for Hillary Clinton in the primary. That's incredible if you think about it. There's a long way to go but we've already made a ton of progress towards changing the hearts and minds of the Democratic establishment. The struggle continues.

I heard this for the first time today and did my best to let it sink deep into my bones.  Another one of those circumstances where i'm fairly certain i'm in the >1% of fans who know this song exists, the internets a funny place.  Kind of like how 20 years ago if you spent enough time crate digging in record stores you'd a couple jewels, in 2016 if you stare at the matrix code long enough you find the white rabbits trail.  Remember that time I bumped into Sam Beam on the street?

In the spirit of the 20 unreleased Iron & Wine songs I found today..

I want to continue to make music that’s sample based, but we’re living in this strange dichotomy where music has technically never been worth less and yet… people have never wanted more [for sample clearance],

I agree. I think that's why you see artists like Jai Paul never officially release music. There is a lot of art that will either never be made or never see the light of day because we're telling artists what they can and cannot do. Creativity exists without boundaries. Everyone steals from everyone. Only recently have we adopted this strict regimen of meticulously tracking every artistic source and obtaining permission. Totally unreasonable.

Identity Politics and the Rise of the Republican Party

Identity politics are toxic. If Democrats don't start learning the lessons about this election that are right in front of their eyes they're going to lose again come midterms. Democrats just lost control of all three branches of government for the first time since 1928. It's time to reassess. Maybe take a look at what the populist leader on the left has to say..
